Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Well, the weather for the June "dusk patrol" was just great.  Several of us showed up with planes, and we had a chance to talk to a newbie who has a Dynaflite kit ready to be built. (Made a "convert" out of him when he saw Terry's SE5a fly. *grin*)

There were 3 Dynaflite SE5s, two Camels, and a Fokker Triplane, plus Larry Puls' little foam SE5a. Roger Vaad didn't bring his electric-conversion H9 Camel this month, but it will be there next month.

Both Camels and two of the SE5s flew. Terry Lamm's Fokker Triplane had some trouble at takeoff, but his Sopwith and SE5 flew wonderfully.

I flew my H9 Sopwith Camel again. Still trying to get the hang of  landings. I can set it down gently enough, and everything will be looking great, then "Foomp!", over on its' nose it goes. Guess I'll have to remember to use high rates on the elevator when landing. I think I'm just running out of elevator throw.

Larry Puls talked me into flying his Dynaflite SE5a for him. My flight was "eventful", as it not only proved to be very tail-heavy,
but needs adjustment on the aileron linkages. Very hairy, especially when it dead-sticked on landing. I was happy to get it
down in one piece, but actually managed a passable landing. I'm sure some nose weight and other tweaking will set things right.

There was food provided by Mike and Tracy, who I can't thank enough. We are still trying to get Mike to give WW1 stuff a try.

There's always room for more "early birds" at the dusk patrol, so if  you're anywhere near Cobras Field - bring 'em out!

       "Contact!"

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people. We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West. Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying. It’s all level open ground. We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way. The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit. All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads. We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field. That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem. The SWIFT Glider club members are also members of the Cobras club and there membership has added to the size of the club which has helped to bring in enough money to pay the cost for rent and upkeep of the field. President Larry Puls cooks great Brats and other goodies for many of the Fun Flys etc. so be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month. In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
