COBRAS CLUB NEWSLETTER

JULY 5, 2006

 

Vice President Adam Shelburg called the meeting to order at 7:12 P.M. at the American Legion Post #2.

          Minutes of the June 7, 2006, meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes as read.  Seconded and carried.

          Dale Parker gave the Treasurer’s Report. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report as given.  Seconded and carried.

OLD BUSINESS

The purchase of the vinyl banner was discussed.  It was decided that with the closing of Bud’s Hobby that there would be no place to display this banner.

          A motion was made not to purchase this banner.  Seconded and carried.

          Dale Parker gave a very complete report on a newer mower which has a 93” cutting width, with 5 blades and riding on 4 wheels.

NEW BUSINESS

          Jerry Hakenson offered a (interest free) loan to the Cobra Club to be applied to buy a newer mower that Dale Parker has selected.  Jerry made a motion that the Cobra Club accept his offer. Seconded and carried.

          Dale Parker made a motion that we pay Jerry Hakenson a designated amount each year for 4 years to repay this (interest free) loan with the 1st payment due June 1, 2007.  Seconded and carried.

          Larry Bailey announced the LANOMA Contest would be July 16, 2006 at 10:00 AM.

          Adam Shelburg reported that the Scale Club has requested to use the Cobra Field on July 22, 2006 for an all Scale Event.  A motion was made to rent the Cobra Field to the Scale Club for $50.00.  The Scale Club Flyers must be AMA members as well as pay the contest sanction.  Seconded and carried.

          George Eheman requested that the Cobras have an Old Timers Event on August 26, 2006. A motion was made to approve this Event.  Seconded and carried.

          Adam Shelburg reported that Rich Simmons is looking at the Cobra Field for a Multi Engine Event.  $50.00 would be paid for the use of the field on September 16, 2006.

          With no further business, Roger Vaad made a motion to adjourn at 8:30 PM.  Seconded and carried.

SHOW AND TELL

          Adam Shelburg gave a slide presentation of the Cobras Club Old Timers Event on his laptop computer.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people. We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West. Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying. It’s all level open ground. We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way. The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit. All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads. We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field. That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem. The SWIFT Glider club members are also members of the Cobras club and there membership has added to the size of the club which has helped to bring in enough money to pay the cost for rent and upkeep of the field. President Larry Puls cooks great Brats and other goodies for many of the Fun Flys etc. so be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month. In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
