October, 2006 Minutes

 

COBRAS CLUB NEWSLETTER

 

President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:10 P.M. at the American Legion Post #2.

          Minutes of the September 6, 2006 meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes as read.  Seconded and carried.

          Dale Parker gave the Treasurer’s Report. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report as given.  Seconded and carried. 

OLD BUSINESS

 

            Larry Bailey gave a report on the previous Fun Fly.  He also stated that the S.W.I.F.T.  Glider Club would have their monthly meeting at the Chaco Hills at 7:00 P.M.

          Larry Bailey invited all for coffee and or breakfast at The Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

NEW BUSINESS

 

          It was decided to have a Fun Fly on October 22, 2006. from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

          The president noted that club officer elections would be held next month.

          Adam Shelburg offered to install a donated Bulletin Board at the Cobra Field.

          Larry Bailey made a motion to accept the Bulletin Board.  Seconded and carried.

          Roger Vaad gave a report on the tractor, field, and future building

 

repairs on the north side.  It was suggested that we install double doors on the north side making a tractor pull through.

          Larry Bailey suggested we have a Holiday Party.  Keith Paskewitz suggested having the party in January 2007.  Larry Bailey made a motion to have a Holiday Party/Meeting at U.S.A. Steak on January 3, 2007.  Dale Parker seconded the motion carried.

          Larry Bailey made a motion to adjourn at 7:57 P.M. being there was no further business.

SHOW AND TELL

 

            Dale Parker gave a report on getting an airplane ride in a Cessna and a Home-built for his 69th Birthday.

            Larry Bailey brought an Alpha Club Electric Powered Glider to show.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people. We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West. Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying. It’s all level open ground. We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way. The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit. All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads. We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field. That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem. The SWIFT Glider club members are also members of the Cobras club and there membership has added to the size of the club which has helped to bring in enough money to pay the cost for rent and upkeep of the field. President Larry Puls cooks great Brats and other goodies for many of the Fun Flys etc. so be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month. In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
